This page is considered an official policy on Blargipedia.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow. Except for minor edits, please make use of the discussion page to propose changes to this policy.

To upload an image on Blargipedia without the fear of having it rampantly deleted by a rabid admin or one of our more civil administrators simply follow these steps, while we take an image of a good old nuclear explosion as an example.

Step 1[]

Go to Special:Upload.

Step 2[]

Copy the following text as is seen below this line.

{{Information
|attention=
|description=
|source=
|author=
|filespecs=
|licensing=
|other versions=
}}

Step 3[]

Paste that text in the part of the upload page that says: Summary.

Step 4[]

Add a source, behind the part where it says source= in the text you pasted in the summary, a source is the place where the image comes from, be it a book, comic, screenshot or website.

  1. NOTE: If you found your image on a website, pasting the URL of the image behind the part where it says source is mandatory.
  2. Another Note: Original sources are preferred.
  3. Yet another Note: A Public Domain Licence tag will not be sufficient for 999 cases out of 1000.

Step 5[]

Licencing, a licence is very important, as they keep our ass out of court, just to be safe write down: {{fairuse}} in the summary behind the word: licencing=

Step 6[]

If you did all that the summary will look like this:

{{Information
|attention=
|description=
|source=Wikipedia
|author=
|filespecs=
|licensing={{fairuse}}
|other versions=
}}

NOTE: the other fields in the summary are optional.

Step 7[]

You upload your file.

Step 8[]

If you did everything correct the image you have uploaded should look like this on the page:

Step 9[]

Now your image is good to go and you won't have to fear that we will delete it.

Wide words[]

  1. On the Upload page there are several warnings listed, take them seriously when you are uploading, ignoring them for too long might get you banned.
  2. Don't use the Upload option on your edit screen, that's a tool with a capitol TOOL.
  3. Any questions about this subject can be left on the talk pages of an Administrator.
